Mamluk dynasty

Throughout the history of the Muslim world there have been a number of Mamluk dynasties:

• The Mamluk dynasty of Delhi ruled India between 1211 and 1290
• The Mamluk dynasty of Baghdad ruled that city and the surrounding areas until 1832
• There were two Egyptian Mamluk dynasties, the Bahri dynasty from 1250 to 1382 and the Burgi dynasty from 1382 until 1517. Mamluk rule as a vassal of the Ottoman Empire continued in Egypt until 1811. See also: History of Ottoman Egypt.
